The Jordan Valley Home and Garden Summer Soiree

When I was a little girl, my grandparents had a nursery.  I would love to go up there and “help” my grandma.

I would plant seeds, sweep the dirt off the cement and water the plants. I also loved to open the seed drawers and play with all of the different types of vegetable seeds. I still remember the corn kernels  being my favorite.  To this day, I still love the smell of a nursery.

My grandparents are full of knowledge when it comes to plants, trees & everything  that has to do with dirt.  They would be the perfect examples of a green thumb. Unfortunately, I did not get this trait from them. Well, that’s a lie. I got a mint green thumb instead of a forest green one.

I can plant planters. I love them! I have far more than any one person should have. Well, that is except for my mom. One year my little sister and I “borrowed” 5 or 6 planters from her. She had no idea. That is a sign that you wayyy too many planters. I am not quite that bad, but pretty close.

When I found out about the Jordan Valley Home & Garden Summer Soiree-I was a little more than excited.

The Jordan Valley Home and Garden Club activities will kick off with a Summer Soiree and Garden Tour on June 9, at 6 p.m. Tickets to the Summer Soiree are available online.

The event features some fun bloggers you may be familiar with including Justin and Cassity Kmetzsch, from Remodelaholic; Sausha Khoundet, from Sweet Pickins and Leanne Jacobs from Organize and Decorate Everything, along with several great classes.

In addition, there will be several giveaways including a gorgeous rug that was featured in Country Living Magazine, as well as furniture from Sweet Pickins and Forsey's Furniture.

I was able to sit on a class that was offered by one of the groups founders-Cynthia Bee. It was one of my favorite classes that I attended at the event!  I loved her passion for what she did. She has a vast knowledge of plants that do well in our dry Utah climate. I loved, loved, loved her passion for succulents. She is a rock star when it comes to these little beauties. succulents collage

She will be teaching a class all about succulents and you will want to check it out!

Regular Home and Garden Club classes will begin July 17, at noon. The classes are free - you can register online. Information will be available on the Club's Facebook page following each class.

Mark your calendars now for the kick off event June 9!

  1. Oh! You are so sweet! You make me blush. Thanks for the kind words and for helping us get the word out about the Club. I think it will be such a great place for people who want to beautify their homes and landscapes, DIY style, to learn new skills and hang out with others who share their passion. I can't wait to see you again at the event (if not before). Oh- and check out the "vintage" cans we created then planted with succulents for the event- you will like them!
