Take That Clumsy people that live in my house..

Maybe you don’t have this problem at your house.
I might be alone on this issue.
Either way, I have 3 lovely chickadees and an OAF, aka-my husband. Not one them can seem to watch where they are going.
Now, I realize it is extremely difficult to walk through a house and not knock pictures off the wall, or run into furniture and knock everything off, or just walk and not hit anything in general.
Super hard!
But…come on!
This wall was constantly one of the culprits of the clumsy oaf’s.

I realize that there is only one banister to hold on to, but we are not 85 yr. old people.
It should not be that hard!
I have a TV segment on Wednesday-ways to wake up your walls. I was bound and determined to come up with a solution for this wall.
I can’t be the only woman out there who has a wall that nothing ever stays straight on. Ever!
So, I came up with a solution.
Vinyl! Not your regular, everybody has seen this vinyl.
I found this most fabulous online vinyl shop.
Why is it fabulous and what makes it so different from any other vinyl out there?
In my opinion, they have so many truly unique, fantastic, not your regular run of the mill vinyl designs. I was like a kid in a candy store!
When I saw this quote-I knew that it would be perfect for the  “crooked” wall.

This is my take on it.
First I had to fix all the million holes in my wall. My husband would NOT just let me touch it up, he insisted I re-paint the whole wall.

Granted-there were a lot of holes in the wall.
Whatever…
After all was patched, sanded, painted and finally dry, I pulled out the vinyl.

My stomach did a little flip because I was so excited to finally get it hung up!!

I know what your thinking.
Whoop-de-do, her solution to the “crooked” wall was putting vinyl on it.
Well that’s true, but, I also wanted it to look like a piece of art.
A custom piece of art.
So, while the paint was drying, my cute husband cut me some crown molding for a frame.
I finished off  the frame by painting it Tavern Taupe and then adding a dark walnut stain.
Since the stain was out..
I  decided to glaze my coffee table and part of my banister. But that is for another post.
Here it is all framed out & finished.

I know there is a glare-sorry it was dark when I took this picture. Sure I could have waited until tomorrow morning to take the after, but I was too excited to wait until then.
We stapled the frame directly to the wall. I did this so the oaf’s couldn’t knock it off the wall or make it crooked.
Happy to report-it worked! This baby isn’t moving AT ALL!
Fabulous!
(think of the orbitz gum chick when I type this. Makes for a much more fun read.)
It is now a piece of art. A saying that I loved and my kids will see everyday-multiple times a day.
A quote that is so awesome, that they will be able to remember it for the rest of their lives and when they are called upon to talk at their high school graduation-they will be able to recite this. They will then thank me, their most awesome mom, for having the vision and insight to create  a life changing piece of art.
Then the entire audience would give me, the most awesome Mom ever-a standing ovation.
Oh, did I forget to mention that the President of the United States will happen to stop by and visit their HS graduation? He will be so amazed by such an inspired mom, that he will then reward me with a new car and a plaque that reads; MOM OF THE YEAR
ha-I crack myself up!!
What can I say, this piece inspires me.

(again, sorry for the stupid flash spot)
I also picked out a couple more fabulous vinyl creations by Single Stone Studios.
One of my favorites being Tea Cups!
Who doesn’t love tea cups?
How about when you add polka dots and a fabulous green color?
DSCN1464
I put them in my kitchen, up above my cabinets. I just made them part of a vignette.
Cute right?
Have you ever seen anything like these?
I know that I hadn’t.  Too cute!
Plus-they are only $21.00!

You have my permission to order yourself a Valentine’s present.
Because, you know that you would LOVE these!
I also think that these cute tea cups, would make a great gift. For a wedding shower, or maybe a hard to buy mother-in-law.
Check back on Wednesday. I will be hosting a giveaway for a gift certificate for Single Stone Studios!
I can’t wait to show you the other fun ideas I have come up with for TV.
If I’m on the ball-it might happen before Wednesday-if I’m not-Wednesday for sure.
I will be hooking up with these fabulous parties!
