Ice, Ice Baby!

Stop..
gather round and listen..
How LAME am I?
I couldn’t resist. You know that you were thinking exactly what I just typed.
Don’t deny it.
It’s ok, no judgment here. If you like Vanilla Ice-I still love you!
I “iced” my house this past weekend.
You know, added some silver, white and fabulous FroZeN accessories!
Christmas décor had to be put away, but the house always looks a little empty when you take everything down.
Right?
So, I have January décor.  I know..I know..
remember, no judgment here.
I found these super cute penguins at the DI a couple years ago. I LOVE them! Even my kids were a little excited when they saw that the “fat penguins” had made their yearly appearance.
Cute right?
I added some snowflakes, flocked trees and “snowballs” made out of lion yarn. I have an addiction to this stuff. I am all about the texture and this stuff keeps me smiling!
I filled 2 of my apothecary jars with some fun icing as well.
One has silver tinsel and the other has this funky, white, branchy stuff. I got it for 75% off at shopko.
I used some silver and white ornaments to keep the white branches in place.
I added some snowflakes to the tinsel.
I know what you are thinking. Who uses tinsel?
I loved the shimmer and of course, the texture!
You know that you want to go out and try to find some tinsel now.
Admit it.
A few years ago, I found this old, fabulous, totally covet-able old sled at the di! I wont even tell you how much I paid for it.
Lets just see it was CHEAP!!
No sled is complete without an old, vintage pair of skates.
These too were found at the thrift store. Not by me though, my fabulous friend found them for me.
She is one of those golden friends-the kind that when she finds something at the DI that she knows I will love, she gets it for me.
Yes-it is so totally awesome that I have a friend who loves to thrift AND shares her treasures!!
I used my crocheted wreath also found at the thrift store. This fabulous wreath made it’s first appearance during Christmas.
It was far too cute to put away.
I added some Dollar Store snow flakes and some frosted twiggy garland thing.  Accessories! No outfit is complete without a little bling right? I figure the same rule goes for home accessories as well.
So, I also added a beaded and silver ornament that I got for 75% off.
(I so didn’t need it, but that is beside the point)
So now you all know how I “iced” my house.
Hopefully I inspired you to add some “icing” to your house!
See you at the thrift store!!
PS-In case any of you were worried about me and my ridiculous obsession with mint M&M’s. My very sweet friend is sharing one of her bags with me!  Excited is an understatement!  And no, I am so NOT sharing!!!

  2. I still haven't taken down my Christmas decor. I was going to do it yesterday but I had two sick kiddos home from school and I was going to do it today but had kids home again. Hopefully tomorrow I can do it and add my January decor. UNTIL it's time for Valentine's Day! :) AND the tinsel...I totally use tinsel. My tree has silver tinsel garland on it. And I love it.
