Pants on the Ground...Pants on the Ground....

Ok-I had to use that as a title.
The pants I used weren't really on the ground,
but whatever....

8 had a birthday party on Saturday.
This was her third one in a week.
I was not going to spend any more money on birthday gifts.
So-I made them.
Now, this is not anything new for me-I make birthday gifts all the time.
My supplies were a little um....
Unique.

I was doing laundry the other day (my least favorite thing to do)
and went to put a pair of leggings that had a whole in them in the trash.

I thought to myself-
Self..don't throw those away-you can use the fabric.
Yes-I talk to myself often.
Whatever...doesn't everyone do that?

I threw them in my fabric stash and forgot about them.

So...Saturday I was quickly trying to make a gift and thought...
Use the leggings for a headband.
Again-I was talking to myself.

I got to cutting. I took these...

and cut them up.
first like this...
then into a strip
I needed the "headband" to be a little longer so I glued two pieces together.
Now, let me remind you-I don't sew. AT ALL
So the hot glue was the tool of choice.

I made some rosettes with fabric, ribbon and buttons.
Then-I glued them on the headband. (aka-the strip of leggings)
I  added some more rosettes that I made out of scraps of fabric
I also used some buttons to "funk" it up a bit.
I just hot glued everything on.

Are you a little confused on how this is a headband?
You just tie it around your head.
The knit fabrics works great for these because they stay in your hair without pulling, slipping or sliding out of place.

I LOVE how it turned out.
So did 8-she wanted to keep it.
It was the favorite  present at the party.
Score!

So...total cost-free!
Gotta love it!!

Not too bad for some pants that were once on the ground!
(lame..I know!!)
